Searching Movie Review

“You told me she ran away, Vick!” - David Kim
Searching is a suspense thriller directed by Aneesh Chaganty, and starring John Cho.  When his sixteen year old daughter goes missing, David Kim (Cho) looks through her social media accounts to try and find her.  The unique thing about Searching is the fact that the entirety of the film is told from the perspective of a computer desktop in the style of such films as the Unfriended series.
I love this film, and was on the edge of my seat for the entire length of it.  This film is absolutely riveting. The writing is so smart, and intelligent, and when you look back at the film, it all makes sense.
The acting is amazing for the most part, especially on the part of John Cho.  I was blown away with all the twists and turns this movie took. There were moments where I was absolutely shocked by the events that took place.  That said, the storyline is unbelievable. The editing was masterful, and made it actually look like a computer screen. It’s an extremely realistic film, and I really appreciate it.  The music was also really good, and gets you into the film.
The only thing that took away from the film was that towards the beginning, Debra Messing’s acting was a little bit flat.  But that’s it. That’s my only issue with this movie. Overall, Searching was an absolute blast of a film, and one of the best of the year.  If you like twisty, unconventional, original thrillers, you’ll love Searching.

Best Films of 2020

As I’m sure you all know, 2020 was a difficult year for many people.  It presented us with all sorts of new challenges the likes of which most of us have never seen before.  It was especially tough for movie-lovers like myself, because in the town where I live and the surrounding areas, movie theaters were constantly being shut down, then reopened for a few weeks only to be shut down again.  That being said, I didn’t get to see nearly as many films as I did in 2019, and a lot of the films I did see were films I didn’t have time to write reviews for before the year ended.  For that, I apologize.  I think it goes without saying that all of the movies on this list are ones that I really enjoyed, and I recommend checking out all of them if you get the chance.  These are the films I enjoyed watching the most in 2020.   Honorable Mentions:  Mank Babyteeth Hamilton Hunter Hunter 10. Da 5 Bloods    Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods is a unique sto...
