Sorry To Bother You Movie Review

“Let me give you a tip.  Use your white voice.” - Langston
This is one of  the most original films I have seen in my life, and also one of the weirdest films I’ve seen in my life.  Sorry To Bother You is directed by first timer Boots Riley, and stars Lakeith Stanfield, Tessa Thompson, Armie Hammer, and Danny Glover.  It tells the story of Cassius “Cash” Green, (Stanfield) who just wants a good job. So he gets a job at RegalView, a very strange telemarketing company.
I’m going to say this right now, this is the best film of 2018 so far.  I loved this movie so much. First off, the acting is incredible, and the script is so sharp and witty that it’s impossible to rival.  I’ve seen a helluva lot of movies, and I’ve never seen one like this. Ever.
There were parts in this film where my jaw dropped harder than it ever had.  The twist is probably my favorite movie twist ever now. This film defies genre.  I can’t even put a genre on it. It’s part comedy, part drama, part sci-fi, part fantasy, part dystopian fiction, part horror, and all of the elements of the film are scathingly brilliant.
This film has so much to say about society, and  Boots Riley really knows what he’s doing as both a director and a writer. I can’t wait to see what this dude does next, because he absolutely killed it with this film.  The soundtrack by The Coup is so phenomenal, and so is the costume design. The sets are beautiful too.
The only thing I didn’t absolutely adore about this film is how there were some scenes that dragged on a little too long for my tastes.  But other than that, this movie is flawless. This is a masterpiece, and is destined to become a cult classic.

Best Films of 2020

As I’m sure you all know, 2020 was a difficult year for many people.  It presented us with all sorts of new challenges the likes of which most of us have never seen before.  It was especially tough for movie-lovers like myself, because in the town where I live and the surrounding areas, movie theaters were constantly being shut down, then reopened for a few weeks only to be shut down again.  That being said, I didn’t get to see nearly as many films as I did in 2019, and a lot of the films I did see were films I didn’t have time to write reviews for before the year ended.  For that, I apologize.  I think it goes without saying that all of the movies on this list are ones that I really enjoyed, and I recommend checking out all of them if you get the chance.  These are the films I enjoyed watching the most in 2020.   Honorable Mentions:  Mank Babyteeth Hamilton Hunter Hunter 10. Da 5 Bloods    Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods is a unique sto...
