La La Land Movie Review

“Here’s to the ones who dream, foolish as they may seem.” - Mia Dolan
One of my favorite musicals of all time, this romantic film had me singing along and tapping my feet the entire way through.  The storyline, acting, music, choreography, and cinematography are all excellent. Emma Stone’s performance of “Audition/The Fools Who Dream” made me cry.
I loved the fantastical elements too. This movie really hit me emotionally. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone have such fantastic chemistry here, and their singing and dancing ability is fantastic too. I loved the costume design, and the sets were also great.
This movie really romanticizes L.A. night life, and I honestly loved that. This is one of those films that I wish I could experience all over again for the first time.
Rating: PG-13

  1. I agree with Grant's assessment of this movie. Every scene was beautifully executed and filled with little easter eggs from old-school, classic cinema. The music was absolutely incredible, too! You can't help but hum along to every song. Everything about it is just breathtaking, and the ending really hit me hard! This is definitely one of the best original movies I have seen in a long time!

Best Films of 2020

As I’m sure you all know, 2020 was a difficult year for many people.  It presented us with all sorts of new challenges the likes of which most of us have never seen before.  It was especially tough for movie-lovers like myself, because in the town where I live and the surrounding areas, movie theaters were constantly being shut down, then reopened for a few weeks only to be shut down again.  That being said, I didn’t get to see nearly as many films as I did in 2019, and a lot of the films I did see were films I didn’t have time to write reviews for before the year ended.  For that, I apologize.  I think it goes without saying that all of the movies on this list are ones that I really enjoyed, and I recommend checking out all of them if you get the chance.  These are the films I enjoyed watching the most in 2020.   Honorable Mentions:  Mank Babyteeth Hamilton Hunter Hunter 10. Da 5 Bloods    Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods is a unique sto...
